Set for producing a disinfectant

Field of application:

• Aquaria:
  After an epidemic the whole aquarium system with the complete technique should be disinfected. Empty the aquarium, put plants and ground away, clean the remaining parts of the system carefully and fill the aquarium with its technique with the ready AquaCare disinfecting fluid. Do not forget accessories like landing nets, etc. The disinfecting process should be for minimum 24 hours. A pump that circulates the water increases the effect.
• Breeding micro algae and plankton:
  To breed successfully micro algae and plankton you must work very carefully and clean to prevent the cultures of contamination. Before starting a culture all equipment and bottles must be disinfected.
• Defrosting of frozen food:
  It is possible that frozen food contains parasites like Clostridium - even in good brands. To minimize the contamination the frozen food should be defrosted in tap water treated with the AquaCare disinfecting system. After defrosting flush the food in tap water with chlorine dioxide, too. Additional to the intensive cleaning the phosphate concentration concentration of the food is lowered.
• Steady disinfection:
  If you have more than one aquarium system and you need tools for all systems it makes sense to disinfect the tools like nets, hoses, tweezers, etc. before using them in another system. Therefore put all tools into a container filled with AquaCare disinfecting solution. Change the solution every week. - Until now any germs are found that are resistant against chlorine dioxide, so a long term disinfection will be safe.
• Membrane disinfection:
  Reverse osmosis membrane, that are overgrown with bacteria or if you want to store them for a longer time, may be treated with AquaCare chlorine dioxide solution. The membranes are not destroyed in contrast to chlorine treatment.

Application:

The AquaCare disinfectant is a two component system. Before using it the fluid is mixed with the second components, a powder. After storing the solution in a closed container at 25...30°C / 75...85°F the product is ready. Now store it cool and dark (refrigerator) - the solution is good for 6 weeks (after this time the effect decreases). To get the ready-made solution take 1 milliliter in 1 liter / 0.25 US gal water: take reverse osmosis water for all purposes except defrosting frozen food.

To get the maximum disinfecting effect all parts like aquaria, nets, bottles, aquarium equipment, algae culture bottles, plankton screens, etc. should be cleaned carefully. Fill up containers completely and close them if possible. Parts should be stored submersed. After 24 hours all parts are sterile. Disinfecting bathes should be renewed every week. 

You may tread following materials with AquaCare disinfecting solution: PE = polyethylene, PP = polypropylene, ABS, PVC, glass, PMMA = Perspex, PVDF, PTFE = Teflon, silicone. With other materials try with cheap parts first. Colours may bleach.

Important!
Wanted plants and animals should never be in con-tact with the disinfecting solution.
