Filter with screens for different filter materials. The water flows from the bottom to the top (upstream) or from the top to the bottom (downstream) through the filter. Fluidised bed and trickling filter processes are also possible.

water inlet with enough pressure (bypass from aquarium main pump or extra pump)
Filter material for the desired process

The feed water from the aquarium is pumped into the system (upstream) by means of a bypass of the main pump or an additional feed pump at the bottom. The water velocity is set so high that the filter bed remains in motion (only fluidized bed compatible materials!) or lower (non fluidized bed compatible materials). The discharged cleaned water is pumped back into the aquarium at the upper connection. The main pipe can be turned in 45° steps to have the outlet pipe in the desired position.

For operation as a trickling filter, the inlet is established at the upper connection and the outgoing water leaves the filter at the bottom of the base plate. An air pump can be connected to the vent valve in the lid for better oxygen enrichment.

The filter is emptied at the drain valve in the bottom plate.
