Filter with screens for filter material (PE tricklling filter material). The water flows from the toop to the bottom (downstream) through the filter. On the trickling material bacteria are growing, that oxidize harmful substances, for example nitrification. The water flow is adjusted with the inlet ball valve. Special design with active aeration connectors are available.

Required accessories:

water inlet with enough pressure (bypass from aquarium main pump or extra pump)
at special design with active aeration: air supply

With a bypass from the aquarium main pump or with an extra pump the feed water arrives to the system. The water flows from the top to the bottom over the trickling material. After a while bacteria settel down on the filter sand and clean the water.

Special models with active aeration enriches the water with oxygen and diminish the carbon dioxide concentration. These versions are especially suitable for aquaria that are driven without skimmers.

The out-coming and cleaned water flows back to the aquarium.
