The AquaCare Sulphur Granules are a high-purity sulphur product in stabel spherical shap. The product is perfectly suitable for operating a so-called sulphur-nitrate-filter. The AquaCare ADN Nitratefilter is filled with this material as standard.

The Sulphur Granules have followig characteristics:

high purity
does not stick together in the reactor
spherical shape with 3 to 8 mm diameter

Sulphur Granules are best for operation in a nitrate filter. Specialized bacteria settle down on the sulphur substrate. These bacteria are able to respirate under low oxygen conditions nitrate instead of oxygen. But this operates only in bypass-filters and not in the main filter system.

The bacteria do not need additional organic food - they cover their carbon needs by carbon dioxide or hydrogen carbonte = autotrophic bacteria. They extract energy from the sulphur substrate = chemo-autotrophic.

The AquaCare Sulphur Granules maintains in the filter for more than one year (depending on nitrate concentration of the water). Only you have to clean the material at times.
