70 Water change

Product no.: LexF70

Regular water changes reduce the concentration of accumulating substances, e.g. phosphate and nitrate, and replenish missing important trace elements. This requires good initial water (reverse osmosis) and an optimal sea salt mixture.

The water change can be done manually and automatically. It is important that appropriate safety measures are taken. When changing water manually, the drain hose should be secured so that it cannot slip off unintentionally. For automatic water changes, safeguards should be installed to prevent overfilling or draining the water too far. A leakage warning system, preferably linked to a cell phone, will immediately sound the alarm if water ends up where it does not belong.

If drastic changes are to be made, e.g. in the case of acute poisoning, the following applies: a large water change once or twice. If parameters are to be changed carefully, small water changes should be performed more frequently.

During a water change the salinity (salt concentration) can be changed. If seawater with higher salinity is used for the change, the salt concentration in the aquarium will increase. If reverse osmosis water is used, the salinity will decrease.

Please ensure that heaters do not run dry during water change - risk of overheating.
