The CO₂ adsorber removes the carbon dioxide from the supply air of a skimmer and thus raises the pH value of the aquarium water.

The supply air is passed through the filter and flows through the CO₂-X globules. These remove the carbon dioxide and no longer lead to the formation of carbonic acid in the skimmer, which lowers the pH value. The pH value in the aquarium water rises slightly. If the filter material is used up, it turns slighty violet and must be replaced with new CO₂-X globules. The material must be replaced even after subsequent decolouration! The material cannot be regenerated.

If the skimmer is operated with an air dryer and ozone unit, the sequence of the filter stages must be strictly adhered to:

- outside air
- AquaCare CO₂ adsorber
- air dryer (e.g. AquaCare LTM)
- ozone generator (e.g. AquaCare ozone generator)
- skimmer (e.g. AquaCare ACF)

This filter material should never come into contact with the aquarium water. Make sure that it is impossible for water to flow back into the CO₂-X globules filter.
