There are some application cases that needs a careful disinfection. If other methods like heating (pasteurizing, autoclaving), irradiating with energy-rich electromagnetic waves (gamma rays, X-rays) or UV light are not suitable or to dangerous the chemical disinfection is the only choice.
The AquaCare disinfecting solution is working with the chlorine dioxide method - do not mix up with chlorine gas or hypo-chloride method! Chlorine dioxide has the distinction of killing steady algae, bacteria, viruses, spores, fungi and protozoa. Chlorine dioxide has a 2.5 time larger oxidation power than per-acetic acid, hydrogen peroxide, sodium hypochlorite or gaseous chlorine. It is much more faster reacting than chlorine and is suitable in a wide pH range of 6.5 and 9.5. The deposit effect enables this chemical to destroy bio-film. Odorants like phenols and algae decomposition products will be oxidized. In contrast to the chlorine method the chlorine dioxide methods do not form halogenated substances like THM, chlorine phenols, AOX, chlorine amines: no reaction with primary, secondary and quaternary amines.

Application:
The AquaCare disinfectant is a two component system. Before using it the fluid is mixed with the second components, a powder. After storing the solution in a closed container at 25...30°C / 75...85°F the product is ready. Now store it cool and dark (refrigerator) - the solution is good for 6 weeks (after this time the effect decreases). To get the ready-made solution take 1 milliliter in 1 liter / 0.25 US gal water: take reverse osmosis water for all purposes except defrosting frozen food.
fresh mixed solution and the ready solution after 24 hours
To get the maximum disinfecting effect all parts like aquaria, nets, bottles, aquarium equipment, algae culture bottles, plankton screens, etc. should be cleaned carefully. Fill up containers completely and close them if possible. Parts should be stored submersed. After 24 hours all parts are sterile. Disinfecting bathes should be renewed every week.
You may tread following materials with AquaCare disinfecting solution: PE = polyethylene, PP = polypropylene, ABS, PVC, glass, PMMA = Perspex, PVDF, PTFE = Teflon, silicone. With other materials try with cheap parts first. Colours may bleach.
Important!
Wanted plants and animals should never be in con-tact with the disinfecting solution.
The components and the concentrate should be out of the reach of children all the time. Use protective clothes, gloves and safety goggles while handling with this product. At contact with eyes and skin flush with lots of water and go to the doctor.
