11 Fleece filter

The fleece filter is a particle filter installed in the filter basin of an aquarium or as a stand-alone unit, which automatically removes small to medium particles and fibers from the water.

A flat filter fleece hangs with a loop in the water of the filter basin. The incoming water is forced through the filter fleece and particles are retained. If the surface of the filter fleece is covered, the take-up roll rotates a little further, so that fresh filter fleece in the water performs the filtration. When the filter fleece is completely used up, a new roll of filter fleece must be installed.

The fleece filter should be installed in such a way that the draining water from the aquarium passes through this filter first. A bypass that bridges the filter is useful and can control the filter performance.

The fleece filter is suitable for medium to large aquariums. For very large aquariums, an automatic sand filter should be installed. Alternatively, drum filters can also be mounted.
