Operate the pump only with an earth-leakage circuit breaker < 30 mA.
Do not change or replace the mains cable. Remove  mains cable from socket before doing maintenance or cleaning.
Do not bend the cable and do not fix the pump at the cable.
In case of defect mains cable never use the pump - danger to life.
Prevent water flow back into the pump (raise the pump clearly above the water level; use a check valve).
