High-performance lime reactor system for effective and safe enrichment with dissolved lime, so that corals - especially SPS - can grow perfectly without lowering the pH value in the aquarium.
The CO2 column (CO2 tube) dissolves carbon dioxide in the water to form carbonic acid. The optimum internal pH value is automatically adjusted depending on the amount and type of lime material. The maximum flow velocity in the main reactor tube (calcite tube) avoids the accumulation of sediments and the formation of performance-reducing channels. The effective neutralisation through air input increases the outlet pH value and reduces the CO2 entry into the aquarium by approx. 80%. The innovative lamella separator effectively traps particles (sediments) that are too small and can be emptied in a few steps. An optional magnesium stage can be easily attached as required.
Simple time control with daily running times of 0.25 to approx. 20 hours (depending on the animals' needs) allows the performance to be selected without complicated adjustment of the internal pH value and without pH measuring chain.
The complete system can be installed as follows:

Functional Description |
With a bypass from the aquarium main pump or with a small extra pump the feed water arrives the system at the flow meter. The reactor pump circulates the water from CO2 tube to calcite tube. At the bottom of the CO2 tube (right) carbon dioxid reaches the system - the rising bubbles are clearly visibl (bubble counter). In the CO2 tube the small bubbles form a big bubble, so the circulating water trickles down the trickling filter material. This maximum contact area enriches a lot carbonic acid. This acid water (low pH) dissolves the lime material in the calcite tube and produces soluble chalk (calcium ions and carbonate hardness / alkalinity) for corals and other lime-dependent animals. The water that flows out of the internal circuit (CO2 pipe - calcite pipe) is then led to the neutralization (middle), where the excess carbon dioxide is removed with air. The water-gas mixture is divided in the sediment stage into hardened water, which flows back into the aquarium or filter tank, and exhaust gas, which escapes above the sediment chamber. Accumulated sediments are collected in the lamella separator and can be easily and quickly removed from the system. After each production time (with timer operation) the system is de-aerated to prevent declining of the efficiency. |
