The AquaCare plankton tube is useful for breeding phytoplankton (in combination with a light source, particularly T5 bulbs or LEDs) and zooplankton (in addition with a paddle scraper). The large net volume enable the fast growth of adequate mass of plankton. It is possible to disinfect the phytoplankton system chemically (e.g. with chlorine dioxide). 

The tube is made of a acrylic glass (PMMA) cylinder with a bottom cone and a rigid top interlocking system. There are two hose connectors for aerating and de-aerating (4 mm nozzles) the culure. Two brackets for wall mounting are in the scope of delivery. It is possible to fix a sensor connector for measuring e.g. pH value. 

The zooplankton tube is equipped with additional connectors and a paddle scraper to remove detritus from the bottom cone. Afterwards it is possible to suck off the deposits by a hose.

The AquaCare screens have a medium diameter to uptake big volumes. The screen body is made of PMMA (acrylic glass), the web of PA (polyamide) - so the products is fully usable for sea water.

CO2 pressure relief valve for aquaristic purposes: with two pressure gauges and precision adjusting valve. This fitting is necessary, if carbon dioxide is taken from a pressure tank. The vapor pressure of carbon dioxid is about 60 bar and is reduced by the relief valve to 1-2 bars. The needed CO2 volume is adjusted with the precision adjusting valve. - Because the carbon dioxid is fluid the tank pressure will not fall the first time; not before the CO2 is nearly finished the tank pressure will fall.

CO2 is used for chalk reactors (lime reactors) and carbon dioxid reactors.

The AquaCare Plankton Tube can be used for growing phytoplankton (in combination with a light source, preferably T5 fluorescent lamp or LEDs) as well as for zooplankton. This small system is ideal for maintenance cultures. The system can be chemically disinfected (e. g. with chlorine dioxide).

The plankton tube consists of the MF2 multi-function filter with the appropriate connections for air supply, an algae or sludge drain valve, internal silicone hose and a paddle scraper for removing deposits in the zooplankton reactor. The plankton tube can either be placed on a flat surface or attached to a wall with a clip (option).

An electrode holder cannot be installed for this model - choose a larger diameter plankton reactor. Alternatively, we can offer a gas-tight lid without a hole for the stirring scraper for pure algae cultivation, but with a measuring chain connection. Please ask for it.

If you don't need a plankton tube any more, you can convert the filter for other applications - the necessary accessories can be found here.

Paddle scraper made of special steel for MF2 filter for removing the detritus from the bottom cone. If you use the paddle scraper manually all loose deposits are moved to the centre of the bottom cone. There you can suck them away with the extraction hose. Do this procedure once a day to keep the cultur solution hygenically proper.
