Problem water

Certain problems with the raw water / drinking water can be solved with the appropriate components. 

• If the inlet pressure is below 3 bar, it is advisable to use a booster pump. However, these pumps should not be used at inlet pressures above 5 bar, otherwise the system pressure will increase too much.
• If the pure water output is too low (with sufficient inlet pressure above 4 bar), reverse osmosis modules can be connected together.
• If the water is very hard (over 15°dH) or if barium is present in the water, reverse osmosis membranes can quickly block and thus produce too little water of too poor quality. An antiscaling filter significantly reduces the risk of blocking. 
• At very high silica concentrations (above 1 mg/l), a reverse osmosis system cannot remove enough of it to produce perfect water for marine aquaristics. A downstream ultrapure water filter (ion exchanger, DI filter) removes the silica residues from the pure water. 
• In the case of very dirty water (old pipes in the house), a coarse filter can significantly extend the life of the standard installed combination filter of a reverse osmosis system. 
• If there is a risk that reverse osmosis water is contaminated with bacteria (e.g. self-suppliers), a UV system will help.
